UPSC Mathematics Optional Papers are based on UPSC Mathematics Optional Syllabus free downloaded PDF given by UPSC Notification 2022-2023. You can choose between a pure or applied math syllabus. The former is more theoretical and involves Modern Algebra, Linear Algebra without matrices, and concepts from Real analysis. The latter is more practical and is generally suitable for students with below-average grades also. If you are a high school student, you may consider taking maths optional. But it is also possible to take it only if you're good at mathematics on NCERT 12+ level or SCERT Intermediate level.
